What is a digester? Images

Source: http://biodigestores.org/category/informacion-general/

A digester is a simple system to get energy-solve the environmental problems and make appropriate management of both human and animal waste.

In its simplest form is a container (called a reactor) which is tightly closed and in which organic material is deposited as manure and vegetable waste (except citrus because they acidify). Organic materials are put to ferment with a certain amount of water, producing methane gas and organic fertilizer rich in phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen. This system may also include a loading chamber and leveling of the wastewater before the reactor, a device for capturing and storing biogas and hidropresión cameras and post-treatment (filtering and stones, algae, drying, etc.) at the outlet of reactor .

biodigestion process occurs because there is a group of anaerobic bacterial organisms in the droppings that act on the organic material produces a mixture of gases (with high methane content) to what is called biogas. Biogas is an excellent fuel and the result of this process produces some waste with a high concentration of nutrients which can be used as fertilizer and can be used fresh, as for the anaerobic treatment odors are eliminated.
